Ads I Wish Existed (round 2)

Last time it seemed everyone liked the group of fake ads we created, so me and Andy Chasteen got together and made a few more for you. I think I might pitch a few of these to TNF and 5.10. They have to go for them right? I should have gone into advertising. The last one is one Andy made for Wig’s super awesome advice column.

Whiskey Wednesday: Ander Rockstad

Have you ever seen a man with sun beams coming out his ass? Ander Rockstad is this man. The man is a beacon of happiness. When he gets sick he throws up rainbows and jelly beans. I’ve never seen anything like it. Dude is seriously psyched all the time.Ander is another one of those burgeoning super climbers who never has money. I like that because I never have any money either. Ander nearly single handedly saved our Hueco trip a few weeks ago when Stella the van broke down and left us stranded in BFE, NM (aka Albufuckme). Ander turned Matt Segal from this (the very depths of depression and hell– the moment he found out exactly how much his car was going to cost to fix)

into THIS with nothing more than a smile, a wink, and a massive box of Lara bars.

Also Ander sells some sort of salvy balmy shit that makes your hands awesome for climbing. It’s called A-Balm, appropriately. Support a bum climber before he has to go on food stamps. The man is a golden bright shiny ball of happiness. So tip your glasses to him tonight, or buy him a drink (non-alcoholic). Food stamps dont work at the downer.

I NEVER thought I’d say that The North Face made shit I liked, but I am. I remember working in a gear shop in college and making fun of every last sorority girl that bought a Denali fleece. I knew they made other stuff and they had bad ass athletes on their climbing roster, but that stigma stuck with me until very recently. I’ve had the opportunity to climb and drink with a few of TNF’s elite and after closer inspection found out The North Face is making some seriously rad urbanite clothing for the rock warriors that want to have a little steeze.

Here are a few things I yanked off their site just to prove to you that they have some rad shit coming out. Check it out or something.

Whiskey Wednesday: Cedar Wright

Cedar is getting Whiskey Wednesday for a few reasons. First and foremost because he promised to buy me a special tonight at the downer. Beyond that though Cedar has begun teaching me the finer more nuanced parts of the climbing life. I have no idea what it must be like to be a pro climber. The only real clude I have about is that you get to climb a whole lot which I have gotten to do lately since I don’t have a job. Cedar seems to have his shit figured out though. He’s a North Face athlete, a world traveler and total baller–just look at that hat…He rolled in and after the same chit chat you give all new people you meet, I asked him why he was in Boulder. “My friends are here.” He said it like “Duh.” Of course it makes sense. That I suppose is why I moved. We continue the convo and somehow it turned to climbing soul and bit of bullshit that goes along with it. Basically what I gleaned from him was that right now he’s got the soul right now that makes him want to pull sick problems in the spot while he hangs out with cool dudes and cute girls and does a fair amount of drinking in between. Amen. I say Tis the Season bitches.
