How long have you been climbing?
Since I was in middle school, but not seriously, just a couple trips and rock gyms.
Where’s the best place you’ve traveled for climbing?
Strictly for climbing? Well I’d say probably Hueco Tanks.
What do you when you aren’t climbing?
I play soccer and run track for OBU
What do you run?
Well I run anything between the 400 and the 1600, but I’d say the 800 is my race. I’m not a big track fan, it bores me to run in circles, but it pays the ...

I’m not a big track fan, it bores me to run in circles, but it pays the bills.
Running is paying the bills? Are you all scholarshipped?
Well, actually soccer pays for pretty much all my school, but track helps out as well
What’s the best thing about climbing in Oklahoma?
I’d say the best thing is looking forward to climbing somewhere other than in Oklahoma…
Ouch!
No, Oklahoma isn’t that bad. There is more than you’d think actually.
What’s the best part about being a climber girl?
It’s a great way to chill with some really cool people and chill in some really beautiful areas just havin’ fun.
That’s the best part about being a girl?
Ha, I guess I couldn’t think of anything gender specific, sorry.
What’s the dumbest thin you’ve ever done under the influence?
I’m under 21 so you know I’m not supposed to be under the influence yet…
What did you think of Where the Wild Things Are?
Super trippy kids movie!!! Really one of the strangest i’ve ever seen.
What are you going to be for Halloween?
Well, I’m trying to convince my boyfriend to shave of his beard and keep the mustache and be goose and I will be Maverick from Topguna. We’ll see if it works out.
If you were going to be the hot heroine in a horror movie which one would you be ?
A horror movie, that’s a tough one. Maybe Jessica Biel in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre because she’s the only one who lives, so she must be bad A.
What’s the best thing about Halloween and being in college?
Together or separately?
Together, you know like you can’t exactly trick-or-treat anymore…
I did last year and it was great, just a little awkward when you find a grump who thinks you’re too old, but they still give you candy. I don’t think I will trick-or-treat this year though. It’s hard to find people who are willing to do it with you.
If you had to choose one movie to watch on repeat for rest of your life which one would you choose?
I’m gonna go with A Knights Tale. It’s got everything you need: eye candy, comedy, love, drama and action.
If you could have one animal as a pet that would not normally be a pet what would you domesticate?
A hippo, so cute and chubby.
Like the full size?!
Well, if I could have a miniature that would probably be better.
Leave us with some great bit of knowledge.
This is cheesy but love is all we need, just like the song!

What do you do in NYC?
Grad school, human rights
That’s what you’re in grad school for?
Yep.
What does that mean?
That’s why I’m in school. Still trying to figure that one out.
What’s the best thing about climber boys?
Seeing their ass on climbs.
You’re an ass girl?
I hate pinning myself into one category, but yes – they are nice.
What’s the worst thing about climber boys?
Smelly asses.
How do you like being a climber in NYC?

What’s the worst thing about climber boys?
Smelly asses.
How do you like being a climber in NYC?
It’s limiting. I find I have to be much more intentional, especially with grad school.
Does that mean a lot of time in Central Park at such beacons of bouldering beauty like Shit Rock?
Yeah, found myself at Rat Rock quite frequently avoiding glass bottles.
I found a condom once. Who’s having sex at Rat Rock near the children’s park?
It’s New York, probably the kids
Speaking of, what’s your favorite thing to do in the city?
Walk around. If you walk long enough you go from upscale east side to Spanish Harlem. It’s interesting to see the transformation so fast. Oh, and going to Cheap Shots.
FUCK YES.
So trashy, so great.
What have you been listening to the most of lately?
It’s interesting you ask this question. I’ve been having issues with music as of late. I like depressing, but everything seems so happy. The most, probably Bon Iver
Who would you rather have on your side in a bar fight John Mcclain or Chuck Norris?
Chuck Norris. Duh. I wouldn’t lose.
You ever been in a bar fight?
Yes actually. This guy kept acting inappropriately towards my friend Jessica, so Jessica, our friend Lacy and I surrounded him. Jessica reamed him, and I grabbed his shoulders and kneed him in the balls
Was that it?
Yeah, he doubled over, and we left him to think about his decisions.
Who would you rather have sex with then John Mcclain or Chuck Norris?
Never turn your back on someone that helped you win a bar fight, so definitely Chuck.
Where’s one place you’d really like to go climbing one day?
Southern France. I have yet to make it to France. San Sebastian is the closest I’ve been, and my last name is Guillot, so I figure II need to make it out there. By the way, San Sebastian has some good bouldering if any of the readers make it out there. Oh, you know what, I would also like to go to Thailand. Beaches under your climbs. You could just jump in the ocean when you’re done.
What’s a typical day look like for you when you’re not in school?
Well I’ve been hanging out at my parents house in Galveston the past few weeks, so I usually wake up, do some reading, walk to the beach, go to a coffee shop down the road and then finish the day cycling along the San Luis pass. They closed the only climbing gym close to me, and there are no mountains here. Sucks, but I’ll be in Boulder for all of August!
What are you going to do in Boulder?
Climb and hang with friends.
Anything in general you’d like to accomplish before the end of the year?
I want to climb hard and finish my thesis. That would be a good end of the year to me.
Leave us with some Shannon words of wisdom.
How about I leave you with the words of one of my regulars from Woody’s Beach Bar?
“Hold your drink in the air… here’s… here’s to the fourth of JU-ly… here’s… to everything that God gave us in this here land America. Fuck yeah.”

Amazon Woman at Quartz. I have toproped it before, but I think it’s a classic route that is tons of fun with many different styles of climbing all in one route and I would love to snag the lead.
What’s the lead like?
There are only four bolts in a hundred feet of climbing which makes it a tough lead mentally, and it switches back and forth from all slab to some tiny holds all the way up to the crux move near the top involving a dicey side pull on to the lip of the small roof.
I understand your birthday is coming up what are you going to do to celebrate?
Go to the spring gathering at Quartz Mountain of course and then hopefully a birthday trip to Horseshoe Canyon for some more climbing!
What do you do with yourself when you’re not climbing?
I wish I had more personal time, actually. The majority of my time is taken up by school and climbing, and when I am not doing that I love to do anything outdoors, ride my bike, camp, ski and of course hang out with my animals at home. I am also very lucky that my family lives in OKC because I am very close to them and I get to see them all the time.
Do you have a lot of animas?
I have three. Two cats and a pug.
A pug? Those cross-eyed, smushed-face dogs with breathing problems and curly tails?
Hey now, that is what makes Gus so cute, and he has bug eyes not cross eyes. His breathing problems don’t slow him down when we go climb and that’s all that really matters.
Who’s the hottest climber on the face of the planet?
To me what makes someone hot is a complete package, so my answer would have to be somebody I know, and since I have many guy friends that climb I don’t think it would be fair of me to answer that question. They might read this!
I ask this question all the time and I can never get a straight answer from any of you girls it’s like some secret thing you all won’t admit to. If I asked who the hottest celeb was you wouldn’t hesitate!
I’ll put it this way…I will never object to a good climbing trip with some excellent rock and a topless guy climbing for me to look at. Well defined abs and pecs are what get me every time!
What’s the best rest day activity on a climbing trip?
I think the best rest day activity would involve swimming in a nearby river if there is one. Followed by a campfire dinner, some guitar, good beer and good friends to converse with.
Tell me all about your S-Wall experience.
S-Wall is approximately 210 feet with only 3 bolts! (typical of Quartz). I pulled this lead off early enough in my climbing career that I was blissfully unaware of the consequences of a route being that run out. It was a great lead because the exposure is so intense, and it makes you really aware of how high you are and the route is definitely all there. It is a true classic slab route and it really gives you a sense of accomplishment when you are done. You don’t think about it while you are doing it, but its one of those looking back you think “I can’t believe I did that!” I really owe that lead to my friend Chris because he is the one that really helped me be mentally prepared to do it.
Speaking of Chris, want to tell everyone about your first official Whiskey Wednesday and how you nearly got us kicked out of the Downer and managed to beat up a man twice your size?
Well I think most of that can be contributed to the fact that Chris and I officially “went on vacation” the minute we arrived at the airport in OKC a little after nine in the morning, so needless to say by the time we arrived for our first official Whiskey Wednesday we were already “ahead of the curve” [editor note: they were totally drunk.] I guess all that climbing really built up my arm muscles more than I realized, so when I “teasingly” tapped my friend and politely asked him to step out of the pathway, to my surprise, he flew across the room and found himself a more than padded landing among several full glasses of beer on a table [editor note: like twelve glasses half of which shattered on the ground.] I personally will not admit to actually knocking them over.
If you had to choose between sex and dessert foods for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
Well I guess I would have to choose sex because I am not that big on sweets, but if you asked me to make a choice between sex and McDonalds French fries I might have to think about it…
What’s the best part about being a climber in Oklahoma?
The camaraderie for sure. The climbing community in Oklahoma is so tight knit and all the people I meet through climbing turn out to be really amazing people. Surprisingly Oklahoma has some really great climbing too. I feel very lucky to have such great places so close to me.
What’s the worst thing about being a climber in Oklahoma?
The weather. It is almost impossible to plan a trip and know you will be able to go. For example five days ago they were forecasting the weekend to be sunny and in the mid to high 70′s and as of today it is supposed to snow all day tomorrow!
What’s your favorite television show?
I am embarrassed to admit this… I don’t have enough time to watch TV and pick a favorite show to follow, so when I do watch TV I get much amusement out of watching those trashy reality shows. Somehow they makes me feel so normal.
Which one’s your favorite?
Probably Survivor, I Love New York, the Bachelor and Tool Academy. Whatever seems to be on VH1 when I turn on the TV.
What’s the best crag music?
For me it would have to be Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds, MGMT and Wilco.
Would you purchase this?
Looks like it could be interesting it would depend on how good it looked in my house!

No
It feels original… I suppose. It almost makes me feel cute.

Well How’s it feel to be the first CCGOTW from South Carolina?
Hmm. This is a very difficult question. Are they all going to be this hard?
No
It feels original… I suppose. It almost makes me feel cute.
What does a good night out look like for Lydia?
Well, here in Columbia a perfect evening would be a really good dinner at a friend’s house with a few close friends, and then a trip to a local brewery called the Hunter-Gatherer for a bit, then the Art Bar after that with accompanying Maker’s Mark.
You’re a whiskey girl then huh?
Yeah, though I try to get as wasted as possible on that before I drive somewhere, since it’s quite expensive at the bars. Bad joke. I have a flask.
Well what do you do when you’re not drinking aside from rock climbing?
I love to read, write, and drive. I love driving places, particularly to our close by Congaree Swamp to wander around.
You wander around a swamp for fun?
There’s a boardwalk through parts of it, and there’s all kinds of wildlife—owls, wild boars, deer, frogs, lizards, squirrels, spiders, snakes. You can call the owls and they will fly in and sit in the treetops above you
Can you make an owl call?
Yeah, my friend’s eighty-year old dad taught me. This owl, the Barred Owl (I’m pretty sure) makes a call that sounds a lot like a monkey, so it’s a pretty fun call to make.
What’s the best part about living in South Carolina?
Well, the nature here is amazing, but my friends and family are here too. The main reason I keep coming back besides those is that it’s really cheap to live. Apparently it’s one of the top 10 cheapest cities in the nation.
What’s the worst part?
It’s hot and humid as the armpit of a gorilla living in the tropics. Outside of this city, there are a lot of very ignorant, close-minded, insanely religious people. There are some inside too, but they are somewhat less dominant.
How are the dudes in Columbia?
Well, no offense to the dudes here, but . . .the pickings are slim. I don’t really have a whole lot in common with many guys here at least not in the dating respect.
What are they lacking?
Well, they’re great, really, and most of my friends are guys, but they tend to be a lot more stationary than me, not really all that healthy, and/or gay. I leave town so much I would rather go to a boyfriend than leave one behind.
Where’s the best place to climb on earth?
New River Gorge though I am biased. I lived there for three years, but have been climbing there since I started climbing nine years ago.
What kind of climbing style do you prefer?
I prefer crimpy face and overhanging crimps and jug hauls all of which can be found in abundance at the New.
So sport climbing?
Ha, more than trad. I like trad too, but I climb sport more often. Bouldering is great, too, but I have to do it with a group of highly entertaining people which is how I prefer to do most climbing or anything for that matter
That certainly helps.
Minus sex. Not into that group thing at this point.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?
Well, pizza is great, though it’s not my favorite thing, but if I had to eat it for the rest of my life, I would pick a pizza with stuff on it like salmon, garlic, chicken, onions, shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes, cilantro, goat cheese and tomato sauce of course.

Who’s the best climber that ever lived?
Lynn Hill. Easy enough. Not only was she a badass a long time ago, she still is! She is strong as shit and tiny, tiny, tiny.
So are you one of those dainty southern bells?
I have never been called dainty in my life, and doubt I ever will be.
If you had to have a threesome with any celebrity couple who would it be?
Well, the obvious answer would likely apply to me Brad and Angelina, but they’re probably all tired from making babies.
Where’s the most exotic place you’ve been?
Patagonia, and I’m going back next week.
What are you doing there?
I’m going to follow the Patagonia Expedition Race around and write about it. I’m going with my photographer friend Michael Clark. It’s about the best thing I’ve ever seen. Patagonia that is.
So what else do you do?
I just started copy-editing for Dead Point Mag, and that makes me happy. The next issue that comes out will be the first that I really worked on!
What’s your ape-index?
I have a negative 3-inch ape-index. Rotten luck. More like a t-rex index.
Well is there anything final you want to say to all these people reading about you?
I can’t stop thinking about something this friend of mine wrote on a myspace pic: “Keep on keeping on and keep your pimp hand strong,” but it seems a bit misogynistic.

Lead photo by Mike Clark. Please visit his website! He’s a great photographer.

Of all your travels what’s the wildest story you have from a climbing trip?
Are you just assuming that I have wild trips? Because most of them have been pretty mild. Well, I guess Croatia was nuts, but in a scary sort of way It was mostly so because it was my first time trying out deep water soloing, and it scared the shit out of me. I remember the very first day we got to this awesome overhang right above the water, and I was the most eager of all to just jump out there and climb. With absolutely zero perspective of how scary a 25 foot free fall is, how rough the waters actually were, and how shitty of a swimmer I am, I climbed as high as I could get. For the rest of the trip, I developed a phobia for jumping into the sea from even ten feet. While the other boys were having blast because they started off slowly and gradually became used to it, I was constantly terrified. It was still awesome, but those videos of Sharma and Loskot are bullshit.
How’s that?
They make it look so comfortable and easy you know, they’re all smiling as they’re torpedoing into the water. When you look back at pics of me as I’m falling, my face is filled with complete terror.
What’s your favorite climbing style?
Bouldering, hands down. I used to obsess over sandstone overhangs, but now I’ve developed a real fondness for slab climbing especially on granite.
What are you doing in New York?
School. Dental school.
Dental School? You’re into teeth?
Yep. One of my friends made this funny observation about me. I have a fetish for block-shaped objects. All they could name were boulders and teeth, but I guess that about the two biggest things going on in my life right now, so perhaps they’re onto something.
What other blocky things could you possibly be into?
Um, dogs with big blocky heads, square shaped containers and I’m a sucker for fancy square-shaped packaging. That’s all I can think of for now.
Would you rather eat hot dogs for the rest of your life or drink milkshakes?
Oh, too easy! Milkshakes, of course! As long as they aren’t chocolate.
You don’t like chocolate milkshakes?
No, I’m not a big chocolate fan in general. I know that makes me sound like a space alien, but I really don’t prefer it.
What would you do first if you won the lottery?
Plan out an entire year of traveling, definitely, and put my parents into early retirement. Isn’t that what you’d do?
I’d buy a whiskey distillery.
What are you going to do after dental school?
Probably work for a couple of years until I’m good enough to open my own practice. Once that happens, I hope to be able to work just enough to pay my bills and play the rest of the time. I feel pretty lucky to possess a genuine desire to be a dentist because in the end, they seem to have some pretty sweet and forgiving lifestyles. I’d like to be able to climb for the rest of my life, and I think I’ll be able to if I play my cards with this whole teeth vs. boulders thing.
Where do you go climb locally the most around New York?
I guess the Gunks, but it’s been a while since I’ve done that. After school started, I’ve been pretty restricted to climbing on plastic. Which is fine for now, it just gets old really fast. NYC needs more variety. Plus I’m a much better climber outdoors than in a gym.
Except for DWS
You fucker. But yes, you’re right. Except for DWS. I just need to try it a few more times
If you could pick the brain of any “pro climber” over a nice stiff drink who would you want to talk to?
No one. I’m the worst at keeping up with the names of pro climbers. Oh wait. Dave Graham, but I wouldn’t even care to pick his brain, just steal his powers. He’s one climber I actually love to watch. He’s so technical and precise, I find it very mesmerizing. But picking brains, I guess doesn’t appeal to me because I hate learning that people I look up to in one way or another actually have really shitty personalities. Oh but I will say I’d like to pick Ivan Greene’s brain, but for other reasons. Perhaps I’d just throw a roofie in his drink then throw him off a bridge. I would probably not care to pick Chris Sharma’s brain except to tell him that he’s got some pretty bad gum recession and should probably lay off on the unfiltered cigarettes. I’ve never seen a young man age so fast!
What’s the best climbing shoe out there?
La Sportiva’s Katanas. There is no better shoe out there for my feet. If there ever comes a day when they discontinue those shoes, I will have to buy up every pair I can get my hands on.
What’s the best and worst thing about being a female rockstar?
Getting to show up little punk-ass boys that like to assume pretty girls don’t know how to climb. Worst thing for me is having to accept the fact that I have to try a lot hard to send things that guys can breeze through because they don’t have extra weight in their ass and shorter arms.
Let’s do some word association.
5.14
Shitty
Oh wait. That’s not what I meant. Next.
Coffee
Starbucks #234000023. That’s the one I go to every day.
El Cap.
Old news
Slopers
Horsepens40. My favorite place in the world!
Michael Jackson
Pedo
8a.nu
What the hell is that?
Who’s the hottest female climber out there right now?
I really don’t know. There’s one lady I saw in an article about the Squamish Roctrip and she had a weird, long last name I can’t remember. She looked like a beast, but a pretty one. Her last name has a hyphen in it. Dark hair, very tan.
Was it Vera Schulte-Pelkum?
That does sound familiar. She is actually very pretty, isn’t she?
She’s real pretty.
Okay then. I pick her.
Do you think dating a climber is necessary?
No, but I would never date a non climber.
…
You always meet people with non-climbing spouses or whatever, and they say things like, “Its nice having climbing as my own hobby to get away.” That just means that your girlfriend or boyfriend sucks too much to join you. I couldn’t imagine not dating someone who climbs.

Have you ever lived anywhere else besides NYC?
Nah, which was your favorite?
I lived on the beach in North Carolina for four years before I moved back here two years ago. That was pretty sweet just fishing and surfing.
Where on your journey did you start climbing?
In college back in Philly. A bunch of guys I met were super into it and got me involved. It was nice to escape the city but it was short lived. I graduated, tore up my shoulder snowboarding and my climbing career got put on hold until last summer when I decided my shoulder was healthy enough to give climbing a go again. I was really missing it. It had been about 8 years, so it was just time.
So you snowboard, surf and fish. Any other amazing talents you have?
Snowboarding and fishing are my two favorite things to do but I scuba dive a lot and explore the ocean.
Don’t you do that stuff for work or something?
Yes. I have a graduate degree in marine science and conservation. I was over academics so I started a company devoted to ocean exploration: Global Ocean Exploration Inc. The purpose is to bring cutting edge research expeditions to people through the web and other resources. Basically I go on expeditions and write, photograph and film them. It is pretty awesome. Our last expedition was up in the Bering Sea, and I am in the process of launching some webisodes of various expeditions. It was so awesome to be out on the ice only inches above the Bering Sea.I love that stuff. The more remote the better. My first job in oceanography was in Antarctica so everything else I do has to live up to that. It is pretty tough
I bet. How hard is it to stick to the climbing life in NYC?
It was easier in the summer but now it is tough. I find that I get wrapped up in work and planning expeditions. MPHC is my oasis in the city. It keeps me sane. I can be having the shittiest day but I head over there, climb, and I feel better. It is a great community, and I’m not all caught up in NYBullshit
You got a boyfriend over there?
What kind of boy is someone like Gaelin Rosenwaks looking for?
I feel like I am going to regret answering this question, but super hot, fit and adventurous.
Where do you want to set up home base and grow old?
Not sure. If I knew, I would be there. I don’t think it is NYC, but NYC is home. I have always moved around a lot. If I could find the perfect mixture of mountains and ocean, I would be there. I definitely need a home in the mountains at some point in my life. I am missing carving some turns right about now.
Where does a name like Gaelin Rosenwaks come from and what does all that mean?
My mom and dad got creative with “Gaelin.” I would like to know what it means but haven’t been able to find out. My mom just liked it. My last name means “growing roses.”
Fishing, climbing, or snowboarding which would you do if you had to quit the other two?
Tough question. At different parts of my life I haven’t been able to do all of them because of injuries so I have to say I can’t choose.
Wuss. What’s the biggest fish you’ve ever caught?
A 500-pound bluefin tuna, (I used to study them), but my favorite fish was a 58-pound chinook salmon on super light tackle.
holy shit.
Yep.
Well compared to a 500-pound bluefin reeling in a hot adventurous fit man should be no trouble. I figure the guy will only weigh somewhere from 140-180. All you have to use for bait is like a pair of cute underwear or maybe a piece of cake or pizza or something or maybe the jam you make. Tell me about your jam.
I started making jam when I was little with my mom and then a few years ago, I got really into preserving food. I love picking berries and other fruits so I put the two things together and started making tons of jam. Last summer, I made strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, plum and peach. I think I covered it. I have it down to a science now.
So let me get this straight. You make homemade jam, you climb, surf, snowboard, fish, go on Bering Sea type expeditions, have a kick ass exciting job, and you don’t have a boyfriend? Can they just not keep up?
It is tough to keep up with me. I don’t have patience for slackers.

If you could choose to be reincarnated as any animal what would it be?
An elephant. They are really smart and amazingly graceful for their size.
If you could hook up with any celebrity alive or dead who would be?
Adrian Grenier…his eyes are what get me
What’s one thing you could not live without throughout the day?
Cinnamon Orbitz gum. I go through about two packs a day.
Would you rather send The Nose (5.14b) or Jumbo Love (5.15something)?
Jumbo Love. I read about it today while I was at work, it looks pretty rad.
How are you rationalizing your trip to Yosemite in a week when all you’re going to do is boulder?
It would take me more than a week to finish climbing a route…
Tuolumne?
What about it?
You don’t need a week to do routes there!
Well you got me. I love bouldering too much. I’m a total noob when it comes to rope climbing.
What’s the best thing about Thanksgiving?
PUMPKIN PIE, is that even a question?
Apparently not. If you could be a main character in any TV show which would it be?
Gossip Girl.
Who would you replace?
Blair.
So you’re saying you’d rather act like a bitchy over privileged teenager who lives a complete fantasy lie in the upper east side of NYC instead of say… save the world from terrars or save lives in a hospital or maybe sell paper?
Well saving the world from terrorists would be fun, but the outfits are just not as cool. I wouldn’t mind being a gangster though that would be pretty cool.
Indeed. What’s the craziest/stupidest thing you’ve ever done to get a guys attention?
I wore a thong leotard on Halloween this year. I don’t usually do crazy things to get guys attention. I would rather they do crazy things to get my attention.
What’s the craziest thing a guy has done to get YOUR attention?
A guy climbed the Illustrious Buddha with a crash pad on.
On his back?
Yup
He did that…for you?
Just for me. It was 102 degrees outside too. I was total gumbie and fell for it.
Wow, how…romantic.
Yeah pretty impressive I guess.
Or completely not at all. Moving on. What’s the best movie you’ve ever seen that has a climbing scene in it?
Mission Impossible II. That was impressive. I aspire to be that good. Tom Cruise killed it.
Favorite beverage?
Americanos, unless it is before noon. Then it is Patron.
Patron… before noon?
That’s how I roll.
Have you ever shot a gun?
No, but I would REALLY like to.
What kind of gun?
A Beretta 9mm, and I would be wearing a Grill while I was shooting it
Who are your top five favorite climbers of all time?
Lisa Rands, Robyn Ebersfield, Beth Rodden, Angie Payne and Emily Harrington
All girls
Yeah, they are all amazing climbers who have inspired me a lot. I have never been very inspired by male climbers. It’s cool to watch Paul and Daniel send really hard climbs, but they are so far removed from things that I will ever be able to do. When women are amazing climbers, it is easier to relate too and is much more inspiring.
When you finally kick the bucket what would be the ultimate way to go?
Maybe when I finish climbing a V15 first ascent in the Rocklands that is on the edge of the cliff band and I get to the top and one of the baboons that lives there pushes me off and I fall to my death. The Baboons in the Rocklands are pretty intense…it could happen.

And what do you think?
It’s one of my favorite things to do! Definitely top three. I love days when I get to spend the whole time outside climbing, and the people I’ve met are pretty cool too.
What are the other two?
Laughing and making out.
<img class="alignleft" title="kailtlyn skates. Well he’s not from The Chi but Warren G kicks ass. I like to kick it old school. Regulate is one of the best rap songs.
I noticed on your Facebook. You’re in a relationship…with a cat.
I really do not wish to discuss this… But if you know this cat you will know he is a very special cat. He has a way with words, I think its his French upbringing
Which episode of Southpark is your favorite?
Oh man you’re hitting me with the big guns now. I’d have to say Lord of the Rings, that shit is hilarious.
I can’t get of over the World of Warcraft, Guitar Queero and Imagination Land
Anything with Cartman is worth watching
If magically a guy appeared in front of you with a guitar what song could he play that would instantly render you mushy and exploitable.
Well the backstreet boys have certainly tugged at my heartstrings in years past
Noted.
No, but I am sucker for Van Morrison or his music at least.
You mean like Moondance or Dancin in the Moonlight?
Those are good, but not his best.
So it takes something extra special?
It has to be extra special. I don’t render mushy easily.
So what would it take?
A serenade in the right context would get me a little mush, but just straight up would make me squeamish.
Right… but what’s the REAL ticket.
Well I guess I have to give away my secret…chocolate.
Really.
And a good laugh. You gotta break me down piece by piece. THEN you could do the love song.
If you were going to have an article written for a climbing magazine about you tomorrow what would you want it to be about?
Probably hard sport. I just started sport climbing and it’s rad. I normally don’t climb more than 15 feet. So I would love to one day be able to climb more than 15 feet of hard sport without forgetting to clip or forgetting my harness. That happens occasionally
What’s your favorite and least favorite thing about living in Boulder?
My favorite is being able to cross the street without looking whenever I damn well please and… It’s a utopia! There is so much at your fingertips. My least favorite are the Haters. For a town that reps peace and love there are quite a few people who look down upon you for being too cliche. I really like drinking Kombucha, doing yoga, and going to the Mountain Sun. No need to poke fun. I also don’t like it when people cross the street right in front of me when I’m driving. I mean come on!
