The crew here would like to pay some respect to ice climbers. We went ice climbing. Well Bronco and Limit went ice climbing. I walked around like an idiot with 6 jackets on and my snowboarding pants and sneakers freezing my ass off while a spectacle of mini-epic proportions unfolded before my eyes.

As you all may have guessed, Team P and C has a special aversion to the cold. We like it comfortable. Sticky rock, climbing in t-shirts and belaying in jackets. That’s ideal right there. We like placing gear and clipping bolts. We don’t do the soloing thing too much, and run outs are alright on the right terrain. Anyway. Ice climbing doesn’t seem to have any of this which is ESPECIALLY troublesome for a bunch of bumblikins like us.

Here’s a list of things that happened yesterday:

1. We bumblefucked our way up the snowy hill trying to find a way to get to the top rope anchors but as the newbies we were got scared and couldn’t get to them.

2. A red-bearded fellow started his solo mission up the tiny falls we wanted to climb (which is terrifying to watch by the way…)

3. We spent at least an hour just banging the ice tools into the ice from the ground

4. We spent another hour just screwing, unscrewing and testing ice screws from the ground.

5. During the red-bearded fellows descent we throw our rope up to him and ask if he’ll put it into the anchor for us.

6. Red-bearded fellow takes off his crampons…(what?!)

7. Red-bearded fellow slips at the top and slides down a long rock ramp from the top falls another 10-15 feet, lands on his ass in the only spot not full of jagged icy death rocks with bewildered look on his face.

8. I resolve to never ice climb ever.

Next is the Adventure Film Festival happening around these parts again. From Novermber 12-14 there is a lot happening. What? You don’t believe me? There’s too much going on for me to even post in this post. You need to go here and check it out because it will no doubt be worth whatever it takes to get to these events. More to come on this, but for now it’s time for me to go drink some WHISKEY. And I promise tomorrow there will be some awesome new content for you.

I see what happens at whiskey Wednesday at the downer all the time. Do any of you do anything outside of the city? state? country?

Everyone’s computers broke.

That’s not a lie so we can get out of our responsibilities that’s actually the truth. Oh and Limit moved to Rifle canyon for the summer and I don’t think they have wireless there yet.

Anyway. We are back. We all have computers. We are psyched. Our mancamp Mt. Crushmore is full of OG P&Cers and content will begin flowing again. Sorry for making you wait too much. As a gift there’s a hot picture of a girl climbing on a rock.

I want to write more about this, but there is not much else to say and I want to drink some whiskey. Congrats Will on being awesome. It’s something we can all aspire to. Being awesome I mean.

I met Jonny at The Attic one night months ago. He was wearing that green fedora hat thing that he always wore. I spoke with him over a game of pool and was immediately drawn to him. He was interested in my life. We talked about our mutual friend Jeremy Collins, and he remembered my name whenever I saw him after that evening. That’s rare these days. I knew Jonny would be a friend.

I didn’t know Wade at all, and I wish I did. After reading the volumes of letters and information about his life and the people he touched, I’m sad that I had never knew him. He sounds like the kind of man everyone should know. Honest, loyal and full of life.

All these men were full of life. I never really thought about what that phrase meant before now. I’ve never had to use it really. At first glance it doesn’t make much sense, but when you’re looking back into these three lives it’s quite obvious.

These three took life by the horns and owned it. They laughed. They loved. They shared. They gave. To say they lived is a complete understatement. To say they lived with vigor and joy is an understatement. These men were literally FULL of life. It seemed everything they did had impact, even if that was just bringing a smile on someone’s face.

Their passing most of all is making me reexamine my own life. Not in terms of purpose, ambition or happiness. Rather I’ve had to take a hard look at relationships. Not girls and boys and kissing but the way I present myself to other people. The way I affect other people. The way I leave people feeling.

Jeremy Collins wrote a letter to Jonny a few days ago. Reading it put a knot in my stomach. In fact nearly everything I read about these guys makes me incredibly sad. What happened to them is tragic, but what they left with us is a memory that will live forever. A memory of greatness and of love. The kind of memory I hope to God I can be man enough to leave behind. They touched so many people in so many different ways it would be hard to even begin to quantify the influence they left us. There is so much to be said, but I’m convinced the best way to say it is simple: We will truly miss you guys.

Tonight we’ll be at the Downer and invite all to come as we hold some glasses as high as we can for a few guys who really made a difference.

ANYWAY. I’m downing whiskey to Spring which seems like it’s FINALLY here, after an April filled not with showers but huge snowstorms. In fact, I think it snowed like four times as much in April here in Colorado than the whole rest of the year.

To climbing in shorts, approaching in flip flops.

To barbeque’s and beers on the patio.

To girls in skirts (and guys with no shirts)

To green grass and flowers, and those damned robins. And scantily clad women serving beer.

Raise your glasses to NOT fucking freezing to death anymore!

Also, bikini wearing rifle holding govenors!

Raise your glasses tonight to the raddest chick we know.  Wish her well into the  hot summer and for completing another year of life.
