Three year old climbs 5.13b at Smith? Washington Toddler topropes Evil Sister, 13b, in the Dihedral crag at Smith Rock. After working the route with her older brother, Brian, who is only Seven years old, Michelle Kranowski has cleanly toproped this short powerfest using “short people” beta. It took Michelle a total of 5 days and over 15 attempts to tidy up her hardest TR to date! She commented on her 8a.nu scorecard saying, “So psyched! Back in the game, jjjjjjjjjyyyyyyyyeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhh! To Bolt is NEXT!”

Crushing!

Crushing!

Gearing up for an extended Euro trip next month, Michelle’s dad and coach, Bill, says she’s in the best shape of her life right now and he’s really excited to see what she can accomplish on Euro terrain. Her agenda includes stops at major areas including Ceuse, Magic Wood, and Zilletral. Not just a TR climber, Michelle is also well versed in the bouldering realm. Last year at the age of Thirty-Two months she completed a long standing sit start project to Pretty Hate Machine V8, in Central Washington’s Icicle Canyon. In her typical fashion, Michelle declined to grade the new sit variation, but said “It’s the hardest thing I’ve done to date.”

With her latest feats, Michelle has picked up sponsorship that should supplement her rigorous training schedule. When asked whether she saw herself competing anytime soon she replied, “F*** comps! Plastic is for training and even then it sucks.”

There is a lot of excitement surrounding this Threee year old phenom right now. She’s even hinted about the possibility of teaming up with some pretty powerful climbers for freeing a new line on El Cap. Although it’s unconfirmed, Cedar Wright has said that he’s been in contact with the toddler and is psyched to work with her in the near future.
